Authority of
the Commission

The Six Nations Gaming Commission holds full authority to license and regulate all gaming operations endorsed by the Six Nations Elected Council within the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory, as established by the Ordinance.

The Authority To License And Regulate Shall Include

The right to license persons, businesses and organizations who conduct gaming operations for the benefit of the Six Nations community
The right to license sponsoring organizations who wish to conduct, and/or share in the proceeds of gaming operations
The right to require a financial accounting or an audit from any person, business or organization that has been granted a license
The right to issue, suspend, or cancel any license granted by the Commission for failure to comply with its terms or conditions, the Ordinance
The right to inform Council that charges may be laid or other disciplinary action taken against any person, business or organization for a violation of the Ordinance or the Rules and Regulations or the terms and conditions of any license or permit

In Discharging Its Authority The Commission Shall

Monitor gaming activities
on a continuing basis

Ensure that all organizations involved in gaming are licensed as required

Ensure that all prizes being advertised are secured prior to any gaming activity commencing

Pursue any violations of the ordinance or of the commission’s rules and regulations or of the terms and conditions of any license or permit

Conduct investigations as may be deemed necessary

Unless otherwise permitted by the Ordinance, all patrons who participate in a gaming operation conducted on Six Nations of the Grand River Territory must be at least 18 years of age. All persons employed in gaming operations must also be at least 18 years of age. The Commission may issue a license with terms and conditions.

The Commission may approve and issue rules and policies governing gaming operations as circumstances arise.

Dispute Resolution

When a patron or a licensee has a dispute that cannot be resolved to their satisfaction - involving alleged winnings, alleged losses, the distribution of prizes, or the manner in which a gaming event is conducted - they may refer the matter to the Commission for review and resolution.

If the dispute involves the Commission or a member of the Commission, the Commission may appoint a three-person tribunal to review and adjudicate.
