What the Community Said

The Six Nations of the Grand River Council mandated the Six Nations Gaming Commission to explore the expansion of gaming at Six Nations of the Grand River. As part of this exploration, the Commission felt it was of foremost importance to hear directly from the community — and contracted a local consulting firm to complete the engagement.

Community engagement ran from May to December 2025, through in-person and virtual events anchored by a focused three-question survey. The voices of 1,488 community members were captured, of whom 90% live at Six Nations of the Grand River.

Question 1

Do Six Nations Members Participate in Gaming?

Six Nations community members participate in gaming, with the two highest participation rates focused on direct impact to community: 69% participate in community-based fundraisers such as 50/50 draws and raffles, and 54% participate in Radio Bingo. Casino slots at 42% was the only activity in the top five that required community members to travel outside the community to participate.

Question 2

How Comfortable Are Six Nations Members with Gaming Expansion?

Community members indicated strong openness to gaming expansion. 42% reported being very comfortable and 27% somewhat comfortable — an overall total of 69% of respondents indicating comfort with expansion. Approximately 10% indicated they were somewhat or not at all comfortable, and approximately 20% were undecided.

What types of gaming activities are community members comfortable with at Six Nations?

The top two activities identified were casino slot machines (52%) and casino entertainment centre (47%).
